Kyle Rittenhouse smiled in the backseat of an SUV as he was driven away from the Kenosha courthouse Friday afternoon after being cleared of all charges, later commenting that 'self defense is not illegal'. Rittenhouse, 18, collapsed in tears and hugged his attorney as the jury in his double murder trial acquitted him of all charges after four days of deliberation and weeks of testimony. The verdict came in at 12:15 p.m. Friday in Kenosha, Wisconsin. 'The jury reached the correct verdict,' Rittenhouse told Fox News. 'Self defense is not illegal. I am glad they reached the correct verdict.' He added: 'It's been a tough journey but we made it through. We made it through the hard part.'

NEW Peaceful protests popped up across the nation, including in Brooklyn, New York (left), Chicago, Illinois (upper right) and Oakland, California (bottom right) after Kyle Rittenhouse (inset) was acquitted of all charges related to him shooting three people protesting in Kenosha, Wisconsin, last year. The demonstrations were staged as politicians called for peace

Talk show face-off: 'A day when all of us should be celebrating': Tucker Carlson cheers Rittenhouse acquittal as MSNBC host Joy-Ann Reid warns, BLM supporters 'should be very afraid'

Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity on Fox News cheered the news of Kyle Rittenhouse's acquittal, with Carlson describing it as 'a wonderful moment'. On CNN and MSNBC, anchors were dismayed, with Chuck Todd saying it 'emboldened' vigilantes to take guns to protests, and Joy-Ann Reid saying it made BLM activists everywhere less safe. The case has deeply divided America, with the country riven along partisan divides on gun control and law and order.

Celebrities are voicing outrage on Twitter over Kyle Rittenhouse's acquittal of murder charges, with legendary performer Bette Midler calling it a 'tragic day' and others bemoaning a perceived miscarriage of justice.

Over the course of the trial, DailyMail.com broke exclusive stories that revealed the prosecution withheld evidence and how the judge received death threats.

Judge Bruce Schroeder, the longest-serving state court judge in Wisconsin, has been the subject of much discussion throughout Kyle Rittenhouse's trial.

Kyle Rittenhouse may be justified asking, 'where do I go to get my reputation back?' after he was acquitted of all charges in the shooting of 3 men in Kenosha, Wisconsin on August 25, 2020.

Kyle Rittenhouse has been found not guilty on all counts. The jury reached a verdict in the Kenosha shooter trial on Friday after four days of deliberation.

Prosecutor Thomas Binger has been heavily criticized for his actions during the case brought against Kyle Rittenhouse. But many court watchers believe Binger was thrown into the case because Kenosha DA Graveley (top right) knew the case against Rittenhouse was weak.  .

'Today's verdict means there is no accountability for the person who murdered our son,' said the family of Anthony Huber, who died from his wounds, following the verdict on Friday.

'The news floating around that we said our daughters death is being investigated as a homicide is false!,' she wrote in excerpt alongside a photo of her late daughter as a child.

Aaron Mika, 29, told his sister-in-law to come outside and watch him and his sister, Aleah Mller, 21, fly over her Wisconsin house in a propeller plane on October 23. Five minutes later, the plane's wing clipped a house as Mika attempted an aerial loop maneuver, killing both occupants. The National Transportation Safety Board found nothing amiss with the small propeller plane that would have caused it to crash, and Witnesses said the plane was 'performing aerial maneuvers' before it crashed, said the Ashland County Sheriff's Department.

Elizabeth Holmes takes the stand as judge refuses defense lawyers' push to toss all charges after prosecution rests case in Theranos fraud trial

Attorneys for Theranos (right) founder Elizabeth Holmes (left) pushed for her acquittal Friday after the prosecution rested its case in her fraud trial. Holmes' attorney Amy Mason Saharia (inset) alleged the government's case over the past 11 weeks 'is insufficient on every element on every count'. The defense also pushed to strike several of witness testimonies, including one from a former patient alleging an inaccurate HIV result on a Theranos blood test. They then proceeded to ask the court to strike all testimonies and exhibits from patients, doctors and customers. Holmes' trial began in September and has included testimony from 29 witnesses. Julie McFadden, a registered nurse from Los Angeles, California, said her patients often see relatives who have already passed on in their final moments. Liberal media figures, politicians and celebrities exploded over a jury's decision to acquit Kyle Rittenhouse of all charges related to the August 2020 shooting of three men in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Actress Rachel Zegler leading the charge tweeting, 'kyle rittenhouse being acquitted on all charges after such heinous heinous crimes is the epitome of white privilege and exactly what is wrong with this godforsaken country.'

Kyle Rittenhouse was acquitted of all charges on Friday, marking the end of a dramatic and divisive two-week murder trial that had sparked debate over gun rights in the US.   Lawyers for the 18-year-old managed to successfully convince the jury that their client acted in self-defense when he fatally shot two men during a protest against police brutality in Kenosha last August.  The verdict ended one of the highest-profile civilian self-defense cases in the US, and also marked a career-defining trial for defense attorneys Mark Richards and Corey Chirafisi.

PIERS MORGAN: Meghan behaved like such a gormless desperate reality TV star on her vomit-making Ellen cheese-fest that even a Kardashian would have deemed this humiliating fiasco too brand-damaging

PIERS MORGAN: The Ellen debacle exposed Meghan Markle's desire to be a jobbing C-list reality TV celebrity, not a jobbing A-list royal. But even a Kardashian would have deemed that street vendor stunt beneath them and brand-damaging. That's how puerile and embarrassing it was. For a British royal to demean herself in such a way is completely unacceptable. Not just because it made Meghan Markle look ridiculous, but because it made the British Monarchy look ridiculous. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: the Queen must strip the Duke and Duchess of Sussex of their royal titles before their brazen, craven, money-grabbing campaign to fleece their duty-free royal status destroys everything she has worked so hard to maintain.

Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp were down across the world. Issues appeared around 11:30am ET, but seemed to be fixed about one hour later. Meta has not revealed what caused the issue.

'No one cares, Meghan!' Social media explodes with memes ridiculing Duchess's 'awful' Ellen interview - and viewers say it shows 'she never understood the difference between royalty and celebrity'

Social media is ablaze with hilarious memes after the Duchess of Sussex, 40, appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday and took part in a prank segment (inset). Fears continue to mount for Peng Shuai, 35, once ranked as the top female double's player in the world, who has not been seen since accusing the country's former vice premier of rape on November 2. Three photographs posted online by a reporter working with CGTN, the international wing of China's state broadcaster, purportedly show the 35-year-old tennis ace posing with a grey cat while surrounded by a bed of soft toys. Shen Shiwei, the man who shared the pictures to Twitter on Friday, said the images had ben posted on Shuai's WeChat messenger, but experts have continued to express doubts over the veracity of the pictures. Friday marked the second time in as many days that the Chinese-state broadcaster attempted to alleviate concern over the missing tennis star, after sharing an email claiming to have been written Shuai in which she said she was 'resting at home'. Andy Murray and Serena Williams have become the latest high-profile names to join the campaign to find missing tennis star Peng Shuai in the wake of her sexual assault allegations.

Peng Shuai's victory in the 2013 Wimbledon women's doubles final went down as a footnote to that year's Championships. A home- grown winner of the men's singles for the first time in 77 years took care of that.
