Nick: The beautiful space that was held, the willingness of all the other participants to explore openly and with joy, and being tied up and spanked!
David Pickup: Yes. I have always thought I was not very good at physical intimacy with women, although my sexuality is such that being drawn to women is my deepest passion.. I have felt this lack of ability was set in stone like I’m 5 feet 8 tall for example. I discovered it’s not true. I was amazed at the event by the wealth of my experience with the women present, my confidence and also – importantly – the responses I felt at many moments. Incidentally, I do also enjoy physical contact with men, but its quite different and its not fraught with worries and insecurities.
CB: Exploring conscious consent…it’s made me pay attention to when I am giving unconscious consent
CB: A deeper understanding of why childhood incidents of being beaten affected me the way they had, also abusive relationships. I felt I reclaimed my power and control in these areas as well as along my ancestral line. I learned that in the past I have given unconscious consent by not having clear boundaries and clear communication.
Would you recommend this workshop to a friend and if so, how would you describe it?David Pickup: This is an interesting question.. apart from something like recommending a bar of chocolate, I would never recommend anything to a friend, or to anyone. They must choose it themselves, because their needs and responses will differ from mine. However, I would happily and lustily describe something I enjoy, and I frequently do so, and in the present case I would say “and I’m going again to the next event” .. this is a kind of recommendation in itself, and the other person can make of it what they will.
Nick: Yes – I’d describe it as a safe way to explore your boundaries, and to challenge them, by discovering an unexplored world.
